BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 23. The Zarshouran gold processing plant in Iran's East Azerbaijan Province, located in the northwest, is projected to boost its processing capacity to 1 ton during the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), Head of Iran's Zarshuran Gold Mines and Mining Industry Development Company, Mohammad Parvin told reporters, Trend reports.

According to Parvin, the plant has been processing over 100 kilograms of gold monthly since the seventh month of the current Iranian year (September 22, 2024).

The official further revealed that in the 11th month (from January 20 through February 18, 2025), the plant processed a total of 100 kilograms (100,368 grams) of gold.

Despite facing certain challenges, such as electricity shortages, Parvin emphasized that the gold processing operations at the plant continue uninterrupted.

To note, the Zarshouran gold mine is located 35 kilometers from the Tekab County of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province. The Zarshouran Gold Mines and Mining Industries Development Company can produce 3 tons of gold bars a year. The gold reserves in the Zanjuran Gold Complex amount to 43 million tons, and with the current equipment, this volume could be mined over the course of 65 years.
