BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 8. The production at the 1st Refinery of Iran's South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) has increased by 9 percent during the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), Ali Ahmadi, the director of the refinery, told local media, Trend reports.

The director noted that over 10 billion cubic meters of gas were produced at the refinery.

He added that the 1st Refinery also produced more than 7.26 million barrels of gas condensate, 34,000 tons of sulfur, and 373,000 liters of odorant.

The South Pars Gas Company's 1st Refinery processes the rich gas extracted from the first phase of the South Pars gas field. The refinery processes 25 million cubic meters of gas daily, which is then transferred to Iran's gas network through a 56-inch pipeline. In addition, 40,000 barrels of gas condensate are sent to storage for export, and 200 tons of sulfur are produced daily.

Meanwhile, the rich gas produced at the South Pars gas field is processed by the South Pars company. More than 75 percent of the gas consumed in the country is provided by this company. The company has 13 processing plants.

The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
