BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. Iran's poultry egg exports reached a value of $150 million, with a total of 159,000 tons exported during the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), the chairman of the Poultry Farmers Union in Iran, Hamidreza Kashani, told reporters, Trend reports.
Kashani stated that Iranian-produced poultry eggs were exported to 11 countries, including Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, countries surrounding the Persian Gulf, and several African nations. The export of poultry eggs saw a 15 percent increase in value compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).
He added that in the last Iranian year, 1.36 million tons of poultry eggs were produced in the country, and a 3 to 5 percent increase in both production and exports is expected in the current year (from March 21, 2025, through March 20, 2026).
The official noted that a few years ago, poultry eggs produced in Iran were also exported to Oman and the UAE. However, due to changes in health protocols in these countries, exports to them were halted. Iran's Veterinary Organization is currently in negotiations to resume poultry egg exports to these countries.
“Iran has informed the Swiss Embassy of its readiness to export eggs to the US,” he said.
Iran ranks as the 9th-largest producer of poultry eggs in the world, with 10 percent of the country's egg production coming from the East Azerbaijan province.
Moreover, the per capita annual egg consumption in Iran stands at 14.5 kilograms.
