BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 30. The possibility of reinstating flights between Iranian Tabriz and Azerbaijan's Baku, and vice versa, is being actively considered by Iran and Azerbaijan, the governor of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province, Bahram Sarmast, said in a statement to Trend.
Sarmast stated that these flights could be restored to simplify travel and enhance trade relations between the two countries.
Sarmast emphasized that this would provide an easier travel option for both citizens and businesspeople from both nations, enabling them to visit Tabriz and Baku with greater ease.
The governor also mentioned that the Tabriz-Baku flight route had been suspended worldwide due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
To note, the Tabriz-Baku route previously operated twice a week. Iran has 54 active civil airports, with 14 being international, handling an average of 30 million passengers annually.
