(IRNA) - Thai Minister of Agriculture Thira Sutabutra in Bangkok on Monday called for expansion of agricultural cooperation with Iran, saying it would lead to strengthening of bilateral economic structures.
During a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Thailand Mohsen Pak-Ayeen, Sutabutra said his country welcomes the conclusion of memoranda of understanding with Iran in the fields of agriculture, fisheries and animal husbandry, reports Trend.
He expressed his appreciation over Iran's active participation in the international farming and tourism exhibition in Thailand.
The Iranian envoy, for his part, pointed to deep-rooted friendly ties between the two countries and voiced Tehran's readiness to bolster ties with Bangkok.
He welcomed Thailand's private sector participation in Iran's free trade zones in the field of fisheries, saying a memorandum of understanding would consolidate cooperation in this regard.
Pak-Ayeen praised the "positive" international interaction between the two countries and urged joint stances on issues affecting their joint interests at the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO).
