Iran's top companies decrease iron ore concentrate output

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. Iran's top 10 companies decreased iron ore concentrate production by 0.6 percent during the nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 20, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023).

Data obtained by Trend from Iran's Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) shows that this figure totaled to 36.9 million tons against 37.1 million tons in the nine months last year.

In a nutshell, Gol-Gohar Company churned out 9.18 million tons, while Chadormalu Company followed suit with 6.83 million tons. Gohar-Zamin Company came in at six million tons, and the Middle East Mines and Mining Industries Development Company racked up 3.35 million tons. Last but not least, Sangan Mining Industry Company brought in 3.31 million tons of iron ore concentrate.

Furthermore, the Central Iron Ore Company churned out 2.56 million tons of iron ore concentrate, while Opal Parsian Sangan Company followed closely with 2.13 million tons. Sanabad Company came in at 1.95 million tons, Sabanur Company produced 1.21 million tons, and Jalalabad Company rounded things off with approximately 306,000 tons.

To note, Iran has an annual potential to produce about 100 million tons of iron ore concentrate, which is used in steel production, which has capacity of around 40 million tons per year.
