BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 11. The production of gold at the Zarshouran gold mine in the East Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran) increased by 27 percent during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (from October 22 through November 20, 2024) compared to the same period last Iranian year (from October 23 through November 21, 2023), head of Iran's Zarshuran Gold Mines and Mining Industry Development Company, Mohammad Parvin told reporters, Trend reports.
According to Parvin, over 103 kilograms (103,344) of gold were produced in the Zarshouran mine over the eight months.
Parvin added that this marks a record in monthly gold production at the Zarshuran gold mine over the past four years. The achievement was reached despite various challenges, including a power shortage.
The official highlighted that if production continues at a rate of over 100 kilograms per month, a new production record will be set at the end of the year, by March 20, 2025.
The Zarshouran gold mine is located 35 kilometers from the Tekab county of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province. The Zarshouran Gold Mines and Mining Industries Development Company can produce 3 tons of gold bars a year.
The Zarshuran gold complex holds reserves of 43 million tons of gold. With the current equipment, this amount can be extracted over the next 65 years.
