A number of passengers were trapped inside a luxury train in South Africa after the Rovos train, which was arriving from Cape Town derailed near its destination in Pretoria, emergency services said Wednesday, DPA reported.
The details of the accident were still unclear.
SAfm public radio reported that the train derailed near its destination station in Pretoria, South Africa's administrative capital.
"We've got lots of passenger coaches that derailed," an emergency services worker told the radio.
Emergency workers were trying to reach the trapped passengers, he said. Ambulances were also at the scene.
The train had dropped off passengers in Johannesburg before it ran into problems on the final leg of the journey to Pretoria, the report said.
Rovos Rail, which describes itself as the world's most luxurious rail company, has two classic trains with a maximum capacity of 72 passengers, according to its website.
