BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 29. Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are collaborating on a project to build a cement plant in Afghanistan, an informed source told Trend.
The planned cement plant will have a capacity of one million tons per year. Additionally, the two countries are working on a joint project in Afghanistan to extract copper and iron.
On August 15, representatives from Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan held a meeting where they discussed various issues, including business development, investments, transport and logistics cooperation, geological exploration of hydrocarbon deposits and minerals, and the implementation mechanism for the cement production project in northern Afghanistan.
They also discussed regional cooperation, effective utilization of the New Silk Road, railway communication, and Afghanistan's active participation in the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
As a result of the meeting, the countries agreed to establish a permanent tripartite working group.
