There a Lot of Conflicts All Over World, We Do not Need One More, Says French President

Azerbaijan, Baku, 1 September / Trend , corr I. Sultanov/ The conflict between Georgia and Russia concerned Europe per se. Therefore he had to give answers to the relevant questions, Nicolas Sarkozy, President of European Union and head of French state said in a briefing in Brussels after EU summit. Sarkozy said the solution of Russia-Georgia conflict is not of military nature. їBesides, the resolution of this problem is not responsibility of NATO. There is a need to keep cool now as never before. If everything works, EU will prove its efficiency, if not, all 27 member states of the organization will meet once again and adopt other decisions,ї he said.

The French President believes calming measures must be taken to solve Georgia-Russia confrontation. їThere are enough conflicts all over the world, we do not need one more,ї he said.

Sarkozy once again stated EU support for Georgiaїs territorial integrity: їAbkhazia and South Ossetia are part of Georgia. They asked us how we could recognize independence of Kosovo. Excuse me, it preceded it by ten yearsї.

EU President also touched upon a plan on overthrow of power in Georgia. їIt is obvious that there was a plan to overthrow Saakashvili. As to energy dependence of EU from Russia, Sarkozy stressed the significance of diversification of energy sources. ї Europe needs strong institutes in this issue,ї he said.
