ANA seized weapons and explosives in Eastern Afghanistan

Afghanistan, Kabul, Dec. 23 / Trend , A. Hakimi/ Afghan troops succeeded to seize weapons and explosives in Kunar province, Afghanistan.

The accomplishment is the result of operation that started one month ago to target the insurgents' shelters along the Afghan-Pakistani border in eastern Afghanistan.

According to the Afghan Defense Ministry, the Afghan and NATO troops captured 23 mules that were used to transport weapons and ammunitions to insurgents in Kuner province.

The Afghan Defense Ministry news release says that the Afghan National Army launch an operation in Laghman province last weekend.

In this operation, the ANA seized a huge amount of weapons including grenades.

No causalities have been reported in the news release.

The Afghan police successfully found a roadside mine that was planted in Kabul-Jalalabad Highway last Sunday.

One ISAF soldier was killed in Southern Afghanistan, ISAF spokesman said.

According to a press release here in Kabul, Afghan National Security forces successfully found a planted mine in Herat city on Dec 22, 2008.

According to the National Security Directorate, the planted mine was targeting Afghan Military police in Herat City.

Police has not arrested anyone, yet.
