Majority of the Georgian people favors All-Georgia Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II most of all. Some 21.4 percent of 401 people surveyed by "Kviris palitra" consider him as the best mediator in the negotiations between the government and opposition.
The government offers opposition to launch negotiations without any preliminary conditions, but opposition is ready to join the negotiations only under one condition - the president's resignation and preterm presidential elections.
A total of 14.6 percent of the surveyed people wants Film Director Rezo Chkheidze to participate in these negotiations and 12.6 percent - Poet Mukhran Machavariani.
The other mediators which people favor comprise Actor Otar Megvinetukhutsesi and Expert Soso Tsiskarishvili (each 10.7 percent), Film Director Giga Lordkipanidze (8.3 percent), Academician Shota Nadirashvili (7.3 percent), Singer and Actor Vakhtang Kikabidze (6.8 percent), Academician Marika Lordkipanidze (5.3 percent), Actress Nineli Chankvetadze and Writer Otia Ioseliani (each 4.9 percent).
