Turkmen Education Minister Anaamanov Muhammadgeldi has been discharged for the serious shortfalls in his work in accordance with the presidential decree. Functioning heretofore as a deputy of school and pre-school department of Turkmen Deputy Education Minister for school and pre-school education Mammedova Gulshat was appointed to this position.

The replacement was made following the Turkmen Prosecutor General's Office report on corruption with the direct assistance of rector of the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages Ayna Gurbanniyazova, national television channel Altin Asir reported on July 3.

"There was a criminal deal between Gurbanniyazova and her close friends - the dean of the Faculty of Oriental languages and literature, and a teacher of the Russian language and literature department, whom she employed for such jobs. Guaranteeing entrance to the university this trio gets $119.000 from eight people," the official statement said.

The Prosecutor General's Office launched investigation into the case.
