Azerbaijani Modern Musavat opposition party completed preparation for municipal elections.
"A list of candidates of the party for municipalities has been prepared. It includes 3,200 candidates. Most of them are women and youth. The party expects for the Central Election Commission to make a decision concerning a date of municipal elections," chairman of the party, Hafiz Hajiyev, told Trend , on August 25.
Azerbaijani municipal elections are scheduled for December.
Hajiyev said that several political parties applied to him concerning joint participation in municipal elections. But Modern Musavat opposition party considered more reasonable to participate in elections independently.
Chairman of Modern Musavat opposition party appraised chances of candidates for municipalities. "We expect our candidates to win 15-20 percent of municipalities," Hajiyev said.
Hafiz Hajiyev was chairman of Azerbaliq state concern over 1992-1993. He founded Modern Musavat party in 2000. The party passed state registration in 2002. The party considers itself constructive opposition towards authority.
