The Georgian parliamentarians both from the majority and the opposition hail U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton's statements made in Moscow.

On Oct.14, after a meeting with her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, Clinton stated that "the U.S. will never recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia."

The U.S non-recognition policy is the most effective leverages towards Russia, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Akakiy Minashvili told journalists.

"I believe the U.S will continue its policy in the future and work over continuing the non-recognition policy at the international level," Minashvili said.

"In terms of the recent developments, the U.S. position was not unexpected for me," Georgian Parliamentary Vice-speaker from the opposition Paata Davitaya said.

There is nothing surprising in the fact that the U.S does not recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Davitaya added.
