Former Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze put forward an initiative to create an international center for combating terrorism in Europe. In an interview with the Georgian weekly "Asaval-Dasavali" he urged the world to unite against terrorism, another manifestation of which occurred in late July in Norway.
"This is a global threat. All countries, beginning with the US and Europe, should unite in this center to combat terrorism", Shevardnadze stressed.

He believes that this center's branches should be located in all countries, including Georgia, which "although is not member of the EU, will be part of a unified system for combating terrorism."
