BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. The global process of reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is quite slow, Deputy Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, Sahib Mammadov said at the third SDG Dialogue on the topic "Results of the Global Summit on SDGs 2023 and the Role of Supreme Financial Control Bodies in the Implementation of the SDGs”, Trend reports.

"Azerbaijan places a high value on collaboration with the United Nations. Despite the fact that we are halfway through the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, the global process of reaching the Sustainable Development Goals is slow; in some cases, the situation is worse than it was in 2015, when the Sustainable Development Agenda was adopted," Mammadov said.

The deputy minister noted that Azerbaijan presented a document of the National Commitment to Improve the SDGs within the framework of the SDG Summit held in September this year at the UN General Assembly.

"Azerbaijan is one of 32 countries worldwide that have submitted this paper. The document represents the targets outlined in Azerbaijan's socioeconomic development strategy for 2022-2026, as well as the outcomes of the first and second SDG dialogues on green transformation and social and economic inclusion. The summit's final political declaration serves as a fresh road map for achieving the SDGs by 2030. This declaration highlights the significance of bolstering SDG attainment once more," he said.

The third Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) dialogue is being held in Baku on the topic "The results of the Global Summit on the SDGs 2023 and the role of the Supreme Financial Control Bodies in the implementation of the SDGs".

The dialogue is co-chaired by the Chairman of the National Coordinating Council for Sustainable Development, the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan.
