The State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Alisher Navoi was held on Friday evening, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of outstanding Azerbaijani composer Fikret Amirov.

The event, organized by the theater staff with the assistance of the Embassy of Azerbaijan was attended by heads of foreign states accredited in Uzbekistan, the embassies of Turkey, Azerbaijan Diaspora activists, representatives of the Uzbek intelligence and the media.

In the foyer of the theater were installed portrait of Fikret Amirov placed benches with the statements of prominent figures of the musical art of the composer, guests were given written materials about the biographies and works of Fikret Amirov.

Charge d'Affaires of Azerbaijan Akif Aliyev, opening night, spoke about the cultural ties between the Azeri and Uzbek, which plays the role of works of Azerbaijani composers on the Uzbek stage in the development and strengthening of bilateral relations, as well as the efforts of the Azerbaijani authorities to study and promote the creativity and perpetuate the memory of Fikret Amirov.

Chairman of the Council of Societies for Friendship with Foreign Countries Academician Saidahror Gulyamov emphasized in his speech that the cultural ties of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have long, historic roots, including in the field of classical music, opera and ballet.

People's Artist of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, the opera director Firuddin Safarov, shared his personal memories of encounters with Fikret Amirov, noting the role of his work in the development of Azerbaijani musical culture.

The chief choreographer of the theater, director of the ballet "A Thousand and One Nights" People's Artist of Uzbekistan Ibrahim Yusupov spoke about art and music features works by Fikret Amirov, emphasizing the love of Azerbaijani music in Uzbekistan.

The main event of the evening was the ballet show "A Thousand and One Nights" of the prominent Azerbaijani composer. Fikret Amirov immortal work is included in the repertoire of the theater since 1997, and all performances are sold out.
