The State Anticorruption Programme launched in 2004 expires in this year, said MP Bahtiyar Aliyev, a Member of the Anticorruption Committee.
He said that the work that has been carried out is analyzed, and a decision on which areas should be prioritized is under consideration.. He said that in 2007, a new anticorruption strategy is expected to be prepared and then approved by the Head of the State.
Mr. Aliyev thinks that the new anticorruption strategy will differ from the previous with its quality. Azerbaijan achieved results in this field. The country has reinforced its legal base, ratified international conventions, and moved serious amendments and changes to the national legislation, said the representative of the Committee.
He said that working group has been built within the Committee. The group has already prepared two new drafts On Contact of Interests and State Officials Ethics Code. Mr. Aliyev said that references on the above-mentioned drafts were expected to be received from international experts, and that they would be considered in the Azerbaijani Parliament.
