Azerbaijan cultivates bounty harvest, reaping golden grains from export

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 26. Azerbaijan’s agricultural product exports amounted to $740.6 million from January through October 2024.

Data obtained by Trend from the Ministry of Agriculture indicates that this is an increase of 11 percent than in the same period last year.

The value of Azerbaijan's tomato exports rose by 12.4 percent year-on-year, reaching $142 million, while persimmon exports grew by 14.7 percent to $52.9 million.

In addition, the export of raw tobacco surged by more than five times, totaling $21.5 million, and cotton fiber exports saw a significant increase of 63.3 percent, reaching $160.4 million.

"As Azerbaijan’s agricultural exports grow, their reach is also expanding. While traditional markets like Russia, Belarus, and other CIS countries remain key, new countries are now becoming part of the export destinations," the ministry statement said.

Meanwhile, the volume of agricultural production in Azerbaijan in 2023 in actual prices amounted to 12.21 billion manat ($7.1 billion), which is three percent higher than in 2022. Production in the field of animal husbandry in value terms increased by 3.2 percent (up to 6.2 billion manat ($3.6 billion)), and in the field of crop production, by 2.7 percent (up to 5.9 billion manat ($3.4 billion).
