BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15. Azerbaijan produced 7.17 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity in the first quarter of 2024, according to preliminary data released by the Ministry of Energy, Trend reports.
This marks a 0.6% increase—or 42.5 million kWh—compared to the same period last year, when electricity generation totaled 7.13 billion kWh.
During the reporting period, thermal power plants accounted for the bulk of production at 6.32 billion kWh, followed by hydropower plants with 669.6 million kWh.
Electricity generation from other sources reached 183.9 million kWh, including 112.5 million kWh from solar, 9.5 million kWh from wind, and 61.9 million kWh from the 'waste-to-energy' plant.
