Iran's aluminum production hit a total of 342,281 tons in the past calendar year ended March 20, 2010, showing a 13 percent growth compared to the year before.

The Mehr News Agency cited a report by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) stating that the value of aluminum exports reached some $258 million last year.

IMIDRO chairman said in February that the projects finished by the organization in the past 4 years accumulated in value up to $7 billion.

Ahmad-Ali Harati-Nik said that the implemented projects were in the fields of steel and aluminum plants as well as iron ore, coal and copper mines.

He pointed out that the funds needed for the projects were mostly provided by IMIDRO's internal resources.

Harati-Nik stated that the projects currently in hand or the ones which will be carried out in the near future reach about $20 billion.
