About 40 million manat to be spent for preferential-term financing of projects in Azerbaijan in the second quarter

The National Fund for Entrepreneurship Support (NFES), which is part of the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan, plans to assign about 40 million manat for the financing of projects in the second quarter of the year, NFES Executive Director Shirzad Abdullayev reported on Monday.

"We plan to assign 40 million manat for the approved projects and for projects, which have already been financed. Besides, there is currently examination of projects, which are under the Fund's consideration", Abdullayev said.

According to him, 332 projects were financed in the first quarter of the year, up 70% from the respective period of last year. The money assigned for these projects totaled 27.5 million manat against 19 million manat in the respective period of last year. Of projects financed since the beginning of the year, 25 are large, assuming construction of refrigerator store complexes, a vegetable oil plant, a paperboard and paper processing plant, etc.

In potato and onion-producing regions such as Barda, Agjabedi, Terter, Fizuli and Gedabek, the NFES finances the construction of refrigerator store complexes and plans to continue this work.

"We also aim at cultivation of new fruitful kinds of potatoes in the country. For this reason, we imported seedlings from Baltic countries and we will plant them in several regions as an experiment. In the event of positive result, these kinds will be applied widely since the next year", Abdullayev said.

According to him, the NFES has also intensified its actions in the sphere of wine-growing; an event with the participation of local entrepreneurs will be conducted in town Tovuz on April 15 on this occasion. A number of related projects have already been submitted to the NFES, which explores the opportunity of financing them.
