The Kazakh Metallurgical Company ArselorMittal Temirtau decreased liquid steel production by 18 percent in January - June, 2012 compared to the same period of 2011. The company produced 1.581 million tons of liquid steel in this period, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported with reference to the company.
ArselorMittal Temirtau's cast iron production decreased by 15 percent during the reporting period to 1.393 million tons, rolled metal production fell by 12 percent to 1.429 million tons.
The company produced 2.596 million tons of agglomerate (12 percent decrease) and 1.910 million tons of iron ore (1 percent decrease) in the first half of 2012.
Meanwhile, ArselorMittal Temirtau increased coal production by 1 percent to 5.23 million tons in the reporting period.
"The production was worse than we expected in the second quarter. Fire in the company's workshop in May and unstable work of some other workshops resulted in restricted output," ArcelorMittal Temirtau General Director Vijay Makhadevan said.
ArcelorMittal Temirtau is an affiliated company of ArcelorMittal company. It is Kazakhstan's largest company in mining and metallurgy sphere.
