The list of the new types of products produced in Kazakhstan will be supplemented with sodium cyanide and polypropylene, Kazakh Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev said on Feb.6 at the expanded meeting of the ministry's board.
The demand for sodium cyanide currently is 16,800 tons per year. This product is mainly used by gold mining enterprises. It is planned to construct a plant in Zhambyl province.
The project for production of granular polypropylene is planned to be implemented in Pavlodar province (North Kazakhstan)," Issekeshev said.
The chemical industry is a supplier of materials for engineering, construction, mining and metallurgy complex and other sectors of the economy. In addition, one job in the industry gives seven or eight jobs in related industries. In order to develop high value added production, large enterprises are now modernised in this industry and new investment projects introduced. This means 30 companies have now been commissioned within the Industrialisation Map. The total amount of investments is 78.7 billion tenge.
Today the chemical industry brings together a large number of sub-sectors. These cover production of basic inorganic and organic products, fertilisers and agricultural chemicals, polymer products and special chemicals for mining and metallurgical complexes and oil.
The share of these enterprises in the total volume of Kazakhstan's chemical industry production has increased from 0.9 percent in 2010 to 19.8 percent by October 2013. The production of sulphuric acid has increased by 10.8 percent, ammonia by 14.5 percent and detergents by 62.6 percent over the past year.
Some 27 chemical companies used the service and financial support under the 'Exporter' programme from 2010 to 2013 which is operated by the National Agency for Export and Investment KAZNEX INVEST MINT RK.
