Within six months (January-June) of 2018, Turkey’s revenues from tourism amounted to $11.4 billion, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey told Trend Oct. 30.
It was noted that $9.2 billion of the total income for the specified period fell to the share of foreign tourism, $2.2 billion - to the share of local tourism.
The ministry also stated that Turkey’s tourism revenues in June 2018 amounted to $2.8 billion, which is 31.7 percent more compared to the same month in 2017.
"In January 2018, Turkey’s revenues from tourism amounted to $1.5 billion, in February – to $1.3 billion, in March – to $1.6 billion, in April – to $1.8 billion, in May – to $ 2.4 billion," the ministry stated.
The ministry said that by the end of 2018, Turkey’s income from tourism could reach $32 billion.
In June 2018, Turkey was visited by 5,091,496 foreign tourists in total, which is 28.49 percent more than in the same month of 2017.
In June 2018, 451,699 tourists from Germany, 306,647 tourists from the UK, 241,095 tourists from Ukraine and 210,989 tourists from Bulgaria visited Turkey. Some 3,881,066 tourists visiting Turkey in June 2018 fall to the share of other countries.
During the mentioned period, the Turkish province of Antalya was visited by 1,933,899 tourists, which accounted for 42.92 percent of the total number of tourists.
In June 2018, Istanbul was visited by 1,100,389 tourists, which accounted for 24.42 percent of the total number of tourists.
