Iran's carpet exporters claim that in the first half of the current Iranian year (started March 21) exports of Iran's hand-woven carpets have significantly increased, but in the seventh months the exports decreased by 20 percent, the director of Iran's National Carpet Center Ferishta Dastpak said, Trend reports referring to Iranian media.
Dastpak noted that in the sixth month of the current Iranian year, the sales rates of Iranian carpets were very high, but due to US sanctions, lack of stability in the foreign currency market, increasing prices of raw material and a number of other similar reasons negatively affected the carpet sales.
A number of countries, due to US sanctions and restrictions, will dramatically decrease carpet imports from Iran.
The National Carpet Center, in order to decrease the damages caused by the sanctions, will strive to take positive and effective steps, Dastpak said, adding that the center is considering finding new markets as well.
