The foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan in January-February 2019 amounted to $6.39 billion and increased by $1.29 billion, which is 25.4 percent more than in the corresponding period last year, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek State Statistics Committee.
In January-February 2019, Uzbekistan led trade relations with more than 140 countries of the world.
State Statistics Committee noted that exports reached $3.03 billion (growth rates - 20.4 percent), and imports - $3.35 billion (growth rates - 30.3 percent). The foreign trade balance was minus $319.2 million.
In January-February 2019, the number of enterprises engaged in the export of goods, compared to the same period last year, increased by 281 units and their total number reached 2,096 units.
As a result of measures taken by the government to strengthen cooperation with the CIS countries and comprehensive support for foreign trade, the share of mutual trade with the CIS member states in Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover in January-February 2019 reached 31.4 percent ($ 2 billion), growth rates of foreign trade turnover, compared with the previous year, amounted to 13.4 percent.
The share of other countries in foreign trade in January-February 2019 increased by 3.3 percent and, compared to the same period last year, amounted to 68.6 percent.
The volume of exports of Uzbekistan in January-February 2019 amounted to $3.03 billion. The share of goods in the composition of exports reached 86.6 percent, of which energy carriers and petroleum products - 16.0 percent, textiles products - 7.5 percent, food products - 4.2 percent, ferrous metals and products from them - 1, 4 percent, non-ferrous metals and products from them - 4.6 percent.
The exports, excluding gold, increased by 45.3 percent, reaching $1.8 billion.
The main partners in the export of goods and services in foreign trade were China (17.7 percent of total exports), Russia (11.4 percent), Kazakhstan (5.3 percent), Turkey (5.0 percent), Afghanistan (2,2 percent), Kyrgyzstan (1.7 percent) and France (1.2 percent).
In January-February 2019, the volume of imports to Uzbekistan amounted to $3.35 billion (growth rate - 30.3 percent).
The main share in its structure is occupied by machinery and equipment, including parts and accessories (42.0 percent), chemical products and products from it (12.9 percent), and also ferrous metals and products from them (7.9 percent).
In January-February 2019, goods and services from 124 countries were imported into the country.
Five major partner countries (China, Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, South Korea and Turkey) in the total volume of imports have a share of 65.7 percent, which is $2.2 billion.
The growth in imports of construction materials is due to large-scale construction and reconstruction work in the country.
The increasing volume of imports of machinery and equipment is a reflection of industrialization policies, as well as an active policy to support foreign direct investment in the creation, modernization and increase in production capacity.
