Italian company Danieli received an order for the supply of equipment for the casting and rolling complex at JSC Uzbek Metallurgical Plant in the Tashkent region in Bekabad city, Trend reports with reference to the “Metal Supply and sales” portal.
The construction of the complex officially starts at the end of August 2019. The project to be implemented by the Italian company envisages the construction of a 120-ton electric-arc furnace, a two-position ladle furnace and a two-stage steel degassing installation.
Slabs to be produced on a vertical continuous casting machine will be heated in a tunnel kiln and rolled on a 5-stand mill afterwards.
The capacity of the casting and rolling complex will be one million ton per year. It will produce hot-rolled steel with a thickness of 1.4 to 12 mm and a width of 800 to 1300 mm. The commissioning of the complex is scheduled for 2020.
The implementation of the project will allow Uzbekistan to reach full self-sufficiency in hot-rolled coils. The products of the forestry complex, in particular, will be used to produce cold-rolled steel at the Tashkent Metallurgical Plant, which should also be operational in the first half of 2020.
