The value of chemical industry manufacturing in Kazakhstan has increased by 3.2 times during 2010-2018, from 104.1 billion tenge to 387.6 billion tenge, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan.
“This increase was possible due to the reconstruction and modernization of chemical ventures and implementation of new investments projects within the framework of the industrialization roadmap,” the report said.
Some 54 projects were implemented during 2010-2018 creating over 4,000 new work places.
“The list of important projects which have been realized within the industrialization roadmap and which have significantly contributed to the development of Kazakh chemical industry include the chlorine and caustic soda plant in Pavlodar region of KAUSTIC JSC, Kazphosphate’s manufacturing of sodium hexametaphosphate and other salts in Jambyl region, KazAzot’s modernization of manufacturing of ammonia, nitric acid and ammonium nitrate in Mangystau region, and Talas Investment Company’s sodium cyanide plant in Jambyl region,” the report said.
These projects allowed to start manufacturing chemical products that were not produced in Kazakhstan before.
“These are caustic soda and sodium hypochlorite, most added value goods such as cleaning materials, new types of paint and varnish materials and agrochemical products. The top most exported chemical industry goods include yellow phosphorus, oxides and chromium chlorides, herbicides, chromium trioxide, ammonium nitrate, sodium dichromate and mineral fertilizers,” the report said.
Currently, there are 693 chemical ventures operating in Kazakhstan, including 10 large, 13 medium and 670 small ventures. Over 16,000 people work in the industry.
