Azerbaijan’s Ganja Aluminum Plant plans to launch a new alumina production line in the medium term, a source at the plant told Trend.
The plant will use clay soil, which are the main raw materials for the production of aluminum, using local alunite ore, according to the source.
“Specialists of Canadian Potash Ridge-ICPE Consulting, British ALCO, China’s Northeastern University/NFC NonFerrous Company engaged in the study of alunite visited the Ganja plant to explore the possibility of using clay soil with local alunite ore in production,” the source added. “Complex processing of alunite ore is also used in the agricultural sector, in the production of fertilizers, as well as in the introduction of technology for the enrichment of clay raw materials.”
The biggest deposit of aluminum ore (alunite) is located in the Dashkesan district of Azerbaijan.
Potassium fertilizers and soda are obtained from this ore at the Ganja Aluminum Plant.
The plant operates at full capacity, and all the workshops of the enterprise are involved.
The plant produces primary and final aluminum products, as well as semi-finished products in the form of aluminum sheets.
