In the first eight months (from March 21 to Nov. 21, 2019) of the current Iranian year, Iran's carpet exports from its Isfahan province exceeded $1.1 million, Director General of Isafahan Customs Administration Rasoul Kuhestani said on the sidelines of a conference on development of Iran's carpet market in Isfahan, Trend reports via IRNA.
Compared to the same period of the last year, the carpet exports have decreased by 80 percent, Kuhestani said, adding that in the current Iranian year, so far, Iran's revenues from carpet exports amounted to $101 million.
Isfahan ranks fifth among Iranian provinces in terms of total exports, the director said, noting that the province's total exports in the reported eight-month period amounted to over $1.7 billion.
The customs official noted that the province's total exports has increased by 18 percent, compared to the same period of the last Iranian year.
Over 1,000 varieties of goods have been exported to 90 countries from Isfahan, Kuhestani said.
There are about 9,400 industrial enterprises in Isfahan province, and thus, majority of the exports account for industry and handicrafts, the the customs official noted.
