Uzbekistan’s export of tires from Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries decreased by 14 percent in the period from January through May 2020, Trend reports citing statistics of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
In total, in the period from January through May 2020, Uzbekistan imported 101,599 pieces of tires worth $7.5 million and 5,932 pieces of used tires worth $23,194.
Russia and Belarus was the main exporters of tires to Uzbekistan. The share of Russia in tires exports was 96 percent while Belarus's share accounted for four percent.
Meanwhile, the main exporters of used tires to Uzbekistan was Russia and Kyrgyzstan. The share of Russia in used tires exports was 92.6 percent while Kyrgyzstan's share stood at 7.4 percent.
First manufacturer of tires in Uzbekistan was Angren Special Industrial Zone, which started production of tires in 2018.
At the end of November 2019, Russia’s Tatneft and Uzkhimprom JSC signed an agreement in Tashkent on establishing a joint venture to manage First Rubber Plant LLC in Angren. The plant is to be the single supplier of automotive tires in Uzbekistan.
