Electronic maps of farmlands have been fully formed in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region, Trend reports citing Kazinform International News Agency.
“All other farmlands will also be fully digitized. This is necessary to provide government support to farmers. Work is also underway to create a geo-information portal,” said the agency.
“The progress of the introduction of digital technologies in the agricultural sector was discussed by officials in an online meeting. Akim of the Karaganda region Zhenis Kassymbek gave instructions to activate the process,” Kazinform said.
“Currently, our department provides all 20 public services in an online mode, including 16 types of subsidies through the "Goldau" information system of subsidies, four public services - through the E-licensing information system. Since early 2020, 6,966 government services have been provided. Agricultural land in the region is being digitized. Up to date, electronic maps of arable land and perennial plantations have been fully formed. Around 11 million hectares of pastures, 176,300 hectares of hayfields have been digitized,” Head of the Agriculture Department of the Karaganda region Sagynzhan Apakashov said.
“Within the ‘Digital Kazakhstan’ program, elements of precision farming are being introduced. The leading ‘Shakhterskoye’ and ‘Najdorovskoye’ enterprises have shown the success of digital farms. In five districts of the region, 28 farms have been identified to promote this experience. The first smart farms appeared in animal husbandry, where many production processes were automated. Digital technologies have also been introduced in poultry and processing plants,” the news agency noted.
“During the meeting of officials, the implementation of the geoinformation portal project was also touched upon. It is planned to transfer completely the spheres of land relations, architecture, and urban planning to a digital format. This will make public services more transparent and reduce corruption risks. All free land plots will be posted on the portal. The digitalization processes are constrained by the weak internet in the villages and the lack of IT experts,” said the agency.
“Many issues of digitalization and related modern technologies are still an innovation for farmers. There are problems with technical equipment and personnel. A particularly painful issue is with the internet connection, as the signal doesn’t reach remote fields and winter quarters,” said Zhenis Kasymbek.
“To solve the existing problems, the head of the region instructed the departments of informatization to provide state services and archives, agriculture, land relations. On the ground, it is necessary to complete the digitization of all agricultural land,” said the message.
