Information regarding Mass Death of Livestock does not Correspond with Reality Azeri State Veterinary Service

The information disseminated on 20-22 November regarding the disease amongst the animals in the Garatepe village of Barda district does not correspond with reality, the Head of the Press Service of the State Veterinary Service functioning under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Agriculture, Yolchu Khanveli, informed Trend. According to him, the facts of mass death amongst birds or livestock have not been noted in this village.

Investigations have been held in this district by the specialists of the Veterinary Service and specialists of U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization, he said. These investigations showed that the death of one livestock and 3-4 birds was caused by poisoning and pasteuriloz. The State Veterinary Service announced these results as part of the recent monitoring, according to which there is no bird flu in Azerbaijan.

All veterinary and border checkpoints are working on the strengthened working regime to prevent the spread of the virus in the country and the prohibition is continuing for hunting, sale and use of the wild birds in the country and import of bird products from countries sustained virus.
