The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (Socar) exported roughly 407,100 tons of light oil from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field via the Baku-Supsa pipeline in 2008, according to Socar's Marketing and Economy Operation Department. Oil was not dispatched in 2007 due to ongoing repairs of the pipeline.
BP is the operator of the Baku-Supsa pipeline. Oil transport resumed early November.
Repairs on the pipeline began in late 2006. Oil pumping was restored in mid-2008, but ceased in August as a result of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict.
Some 326,030 tons of light oil were exported from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field through the Georgian Batumi Port in 2008 compared to 221,200 tons in 2007.
