The Barack Obama administration will achieve political agreements on the Nabucco gas pipeline project with the U.S. allies, a candidate to the position of the U.S. Secretary of State in Obama administration senator, Democrat Hillary Clinton said, the RIA Novosti quoted as saying.
"I and my team will decisively convince our European allies to conclude political agreements, which will guaranty building of Nabucco or another pipeline potential, which will help Europe to diversify its gas deliveries, Clinton answers to written questions of senator- Republican Richard Lugar. The document was represented to the U.S. Senate due to affirmation of her candidature to the post of Secretary of State.
"The successful strategy on promotion of Nabucco" or other pipelines in the south corridor to European markets will need consistent interaction on the highest political level, including the U.S., Clinton said.
"The Nabucco gas pipe can prove to be critically important element in efforts for diversification of European energy-deliveries, but completion of this expensive, complex and multinational project will require thorough agreement between commercial and government participants, Clinton said.
The Nabucco is planned to construct for gas supplies from the Caspian region through the territory of Turkey. This is the main gas pipe with a length of 3,300 kilometers around Russia from Central Asia to European Union states, first of all to Austria and Germany. The assumed power is 31 billion cubometers of gas per year. 2 million tons of steel, 200,000 pipes and more than 30 compressors will be required for construction of the pipeline of 4,000 length. The project's cost is 7.9 billion Euros.
The consortium on construction of the gas pipeline includes companies of OMV Gas GmbH (Austria), Botas (Turkey), Bulgargaz (Bulgaria), Transgaz S.A. (Rumania), MOL Natural Gas Transmission Company Ltd. (Hungary) and RWE (Germany).
