The construction of the Bandar Abbas Refinery, in southern Iran, is now 70 per cent complete, Farhad Ahmadi, the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company said, IRIB News reported.
Implementing a development plan will boost Bandar Abbas refinery's gasoline output by over three million litres per day, IRIB quoted Ahmadi as saying.
According to Ahmadi, the Bandar Abbas Refinery will be inaugurated by the end of the first half of the next Iranian year (September 21, 2013).
"The gasoline production project costs 8.5 trillion rials (some $690 million) to complete," Ahmadi said.
The Bandar Abbas Refinery located in southern Iran, produced some 19.9 per cent of the country's total gasoline output in the past calendar year which ended on March 19, the manager of the refinery Hashem Namvar said in April.
Namvar told Shana news agency that the refinery also accounted for 12.9 per cent of the total liquefied gas, 13.6 per cent of the total kerosene, 16.4 per cent of the total gas oil and 23.3 per cent of the total furnace oil outputs.
A development plan aimed at boosting the refinery's capacity to 32,000 barrels per day (bpd) from 230,000bpd, was implemented in 2008 at the cost of 550 billion rials (some $44.8 million), he said.
