An average of about 6-7 percent of the gas produced by the Iranian South Pars Gas Company is converted into ethylene, Iranian petrochemical expert Masoud Meisami said, Trend reports via Mizan news agency.
He said that the products manufactured at the petrochemical units of the South Pars Gas Company are first converted to ethane, then to ethylene and sent to various parts of Iran via pipeline.
If the South Pars Gas Company doesn’t operate or for some reason, no fuel will be supplied, there will be no ethylene to be sent to petrochemical plants, he noted.
The expert also said that the South Pars Gas Company provides a lot of fuel for petrochemical plants in the Asaluyeh district.
The private sector intends to invest in this sector and will ultimately use the petrochemicals produced at the company, he said.
