Turkmenistan reveals value of cashless transactions through terminals

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 24. The aggregate sum of cashless transactions through terminals in Turkmenistan from January through May this year reached nearly 5.8 billion Turkmen manat ($1.66 billion), Trend reports.

According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, these numbers for the given period are 8 percent lower than in the first five months of 2023, when they amounted to 6.3 million Turkmen manat ($1.3 billion).

The volume of cashless transactions conducted via ATMs in the first five months of 2024 reached 184.7 million Turkmen manat ($52.7 million), reflecting a 30 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, which was 142.5 million Turkmen manat ($40.6 million).

Meanwhile, the overall volume of cashless transactions via terminals in Turkmenistan in 2023 amounted to 15.74 billion Turkmen manat ($4.5 billion), which is 14 percent higher than in 2022, when it totaled 13.8 billion Turkmen manat ($3.94 billion).

Data from the Central Bank of Turkmenistan show that on July 24, 2024, the official exchange rate of the Turkmen manat against the US dollar was set at 3.5 manats per USD.
