As of 1 October, the increase in the number of telephone apparatus equaled 62,000, against the forecast of 36,000 (more than 71%), Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology of Azerbaijan.
For the reported period, a new ATE (Automatic Telephone Exchange), with a capacity of 174,650 numbers, 24 tele-radio sensors with various capacities, 2 stations for satellite communications and 2 channels of satellite communications were given into exploitation.
The share of the electronic ATE in the telephone network of the Country equaled 72%, while in 2005 it was 59.1%.
The level of electronization in the capital equals 80.6%, and other regions of the country was 62.8%.
The number of telephone apparatus for each 100 persons in Baku is 13.9 units, in Baku 31.2 units and in other regions of the country 9 units. For January-September, 103 buildings of post departments and 4 post offices were constructed, 3 post branches were repaired, and 36 post marks, 9 post cards and 1 post envelope were issued.
