International Airport in Kazakhstan’s Turkestan city has been commissioned, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development.
The project for the construction of the Turkestan International Airport is carried out within the framework of a public-private partnership. The YDA Turkish company is a private partner for the project.
The airport is 20 km away from the city and meets all international standards, using modern technologies. The overall land plot of the airport is 905 ha.
The capacity of its passenger terminal is nearly 3 million passengers a year, whereas its hourly capacity will be 450 passengers. The airport will operate two passenger boarding bridges.
In the nearest future, Kazakh airlines will launch flights to Nur-Sultan, Almaty. Turkish Airlines plans to open flights to Istanbul.
In addition to the airfield facilities (runway, taxiways, apron), the project also provides for the construction of the necessary infrastructure: a refueling complex, an emergency rescue station, service, and technical facilities, a patrol road along the perimeter fence, and other life support facilities of the airport.
