BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. Cargo transportation by all modes of transport in Azerbaijan amounted to 148.2 million tons, which is 6.5 percent higher than in the same period of 2022, Trend reports.
According to the data of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, 56.5 percent of all cargo was transported by road transportation during the specified period, 31 percent by pipeline, 8.2 percent by rail, 4.2 percent by sea, and 0.1 percent by air.
Cargo transportation in the private sector increased by 5.5 percent in this period compared to the period from January through August 2022. The share of this sector in the total volume of cargo transportation was 77.1 percent.
Passenger traffic in Azerbaijan exceeded 1.2 billion people in the reporting period, which is 16 percent higher than in the same period in 2022. Most of the passengers (87.8 percent) were transported by motor transport, 11.3 percent by metro, 0.6 percent by other modes of transport.
