Production of fabric, footwear in Kyrgyzstan slumps

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 1. Production of fabric and footwear in Kyrgyzstan from January through July 2023 decreased compared to the same period of 2022, Trend reports.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, 17.610 million square meters of fabric were produced in the country during seven months, which is a 12.8-percent decrease compared to the same period in 2022 (20.197 million square meters).

In July, 2.225 million meters of fabric were produced, declining 30 percent compared to July 2022 (3.171 million).

Furthermore, 1.281 million pairs of footwear were produced in Kyrgyzstan from January through July 2023, which is 48 percent lower than in the corresponding months of 2022, when 2.443 million pairs of footwear were produced.

In July 2023, the footwear production amounted to 240,000 pairs, which is 50 percent less than in July 2022 (488,900 pairs).

Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan amounted to nearly 246 billion soms ($2.7 billion) from January through July 2023, decreasing 1.8 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
