BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 28. The shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at Kyrgyzstan's filling stations will be resolved in the next few days, Kanatbek Eshatov, the president of the Association of Oil Traders of Kyrgyzstan, said during a local radio broadcast, Trend reports.
"Currently, there is a shortage of LPG at filling stations. Some supplies have already arrived in Kyrgyzstan, while others are on their way through Kazakhstan. They will reach Kyrgyzstan in the next few days. The shortage has been going on for the last 10 days," he said.
Eshatov also pointed out that this problem is not just affecting Kyrgyzstan but the entire Central Asian region. There is also a shortage of LPG in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
"Although the use of LPG is growing, cars running on this fuel still make up less than 5 percent of all cars in Kyrgyzstan. Therefore, the shortage is only in the capital. There is no shortage in the regions," Eshatov explained.
He also mentioned that Russian companies are facing issues with a shortage of railway tank cars and equipment needed to transport LPG.
"Because of this, we are not receiving the agreed amount of LPG. Transporting LPG under pressure or in a vacuum necessitates the use of special tank cars. Regular tankers cannot be used for this," Eshatov added.
