BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 7. The Bala-Saruu hydropower plant (HPP) in Kyrgyzstan generated 74 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity from January through July 2025, which is 92.5 percent of its annual target of 80 million kWh, Trend reports via the country’s Ministry of Energy.
Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev inspected the operation of the Bala-Saruu HPP during a working visit to the Talas region. After reviewing the station's performance, the minister instructed relevant authorities to ensure thorough preparations for the upcoming autumn-winter season.
The HPP, located on the Kirov reservoir, has a total installed capacity of 25 megawatts (MW). All three hydro units are currently running at full capacity, with daily electricity generation reaching approximately 300,000 kWh. At present, the plant supplies electricity to more than 30,000 consumers in the Talas region.
According to the State Statistical Committee of the country, Kyrgyzstan generated an aggregate of 7.964 billion kWh of electrical output during the January to June 2025 timeframe, reflecting a 10.7 percent uptick relative to the corresponding interval in 2024.
