DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 1. Russia became the primary supplier of goods and products to Tajikistan from January through July 2023, accounting for 28.2 percent of its total imports, Trend reports.
According to the Statistical Agency of Tajikistan, Russia was followed closely by China (20.6 percent) and Kazakhstan (14.7 percent).
During the specified months, Tajikistan's imports experienced a 16 percent year-on-year increase, totaling $3.2 billion compared to $2.8 billion recorded from January through July 2022.
The main product categories in the country's imports were petroleum products, liquefied gas, and coal, accounting for 17 percent. Machinery and equipment constituted 13.7 percent, while non-precious metals and related products accounted for 10 percent of the total imports.
At the same time, the country's exports amounted $767 million, decreasing by 43.6 percent year-on-year.
Overall, Tajikistan's foreign trade turnover reached about $4 billion from January through July 2023, down by 3.5 percent compared to the similar period in 2022. Throughout this period, the country maintained trade relations with 111 countries worldwide.
