DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 25. Tajikistan imported 156.5 million cubic meters of natural gas from Uzbekistan from January through June 2024, Trend reports.
According to Tajikistan's Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, this is an increase of 57.6 million cubic meters compared to the same period last year.
In the first half of the year, Tajikistan also imported 783,800 tons of oil products and liquefied gas, up by 73,500 tons, or 10.3 percent, from the same period in 2023.
Earlier this year, Tajikistan's Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, announced plans to import more than 250 million cubic meters of natural gas from Uzbekistan in 2024.
In 2023, Tajikistan received 219 million cubic meters of Uzbek gas, an increase of 26.5 million cubic meters from the previous year. Tajikistan resumed importing Uzbek gas in April 2018 after a six-year hiatus.
