Turkmenistan to announce tenders as part of TAPI project

International tenders are expected to be held as part of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline project, the Turkmen government said in a message.

The tenders will include the purchase of pipe materials, auxiliary equipment, construction of a gas compressor station, provision of consulting services in monitoring of the project’s implementation and financial audit.

It is expected that payment for goods, work and relevant services as well as consulting services will be carried out using a part of a $700-million loan of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), which was requested by the Turkmen government.

A special notice will be published in the ‘Neutral Turkmenistan’ newspaper and posted on www.isdb.org.

The total length of the TAPI pipeline will be 1,814 kilometers. A 214-kilometer section of the pipeline will run through Turkmenistan, a 774-kilometer section will go through Afghanistan and an 826-kilometer section will run through Pakistan.

The annual capacity of the gas pipeline will reach 33 billion cubic meters.
