Kyrgyzstan has signed a contract with Uzbekistan to export electricity for the period from December 2017 to March 2018, said Aibek Kaliev, the chairman of the board of the open joint-stock company "National Energy Holding Company".
Kaliev announced about this while addressing a press conference in Bishkek. He added that Kyrgyzstan intends to export 550 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, Kyrgyz media reported.
The export price of electricity will be 2.4 cents per 1 kWh, he said. Thus, the amount of supplies is estimated at $ 13.2 million.
Previously it was reported that Kyrgyzstan started deliveries of electricity to Uzbekistan at 2 cents per 1 kWh, the contract volume is 1.25 billion kWh for $ 25 million.
The current contract is the second one for Kyrgyzstan with Uzbekistan for 2017.
Over the past year, electricity generation in the largest generating company in Kyrgyzstan - OJSC "Electric Stations" amounted to 12, 844 billion kilowatt hours compared to the planned 13, 226 billion. Output declined due to unfavorable weather conditions and less consumption.
In 2017, for the first time in recent years, Kyrgyzstan began to export power thanks to favorable weather conditions.
The volume of electricity production in January-July 2017 amounted to $8.84 billion, which is more by $1,653 billion, or 23.3% more than in 2016 (7,194 billion Wh).
The volume of electricity exports amounted to 573.097 million kWh for 7 months of 2017 compared to the planned 410 million kWh.
